Oracle TNSNAMES. ORA Configuration

Open the TNSNAME. ORA file in the installation directory, such as E: OracleOra81networkADMIN. The file content is roughly as follows:

The blue part is the information entered during installation.

If the file is not configured successfully, you can perform the following steps:
1) Open NET8 configuration assistant in the program menu

2) Select Net8 Configuration Assistant, open it, and enter "Net8 Configuration Assistant: Welcome"Window

2) Select "Local Network Service name Settings" and click "Next". The following form is displayed;

3) in the "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration" window, select "add" and click "Next". The following form is displayed;

4) in the "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, database version" window, select "ORACLE 8I database or service" and click "Next". The following form is displayed;

5) in the "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, service name" window, enter the service name. The service name is the same as the service name (SID) entered during installation, click "Next" to bring up the following form;

6) in "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, select" TCP "in the" protocol "window, select" TCP "only, and click" Next ". The following form is displayed;

7) in the "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, TCP/IP protocol" window, enter the host name (if the local database is connected, enter the name of the Local Computer. If the local database is connected, enter the remote computer name), select the default "use the standard port number 1521" (it is recommended that you do not modify it), and click "Next" to bring up the following form;

8) in "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, test" window, select "Yes, test", and click "Next". The following form is displayed;

9) When "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, the" connecting "dialog box appears, prompting" Connecting .... Test succeeded. Click "Next" to enter the "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, network service name" window;

10) in the "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, network service name" window, enter the network service name, and the service name is an ORACLE connection string, which can be input at will, for example, test, click "Next" to bring up the following form;

11) in the "Net8 Configuration Assistant: network service name Configuration, whether another network service name is required" window, select "no" and click "Next ", enter the "Network Service name configuration completed" window;

12) Click "Next" in the "Network Service name configuration completed" window to bring up the following form;

13) Click "finish" in the "welcome" window to exit the configuration process.

After TNSNAMES. ORA is configured, configure BDE. You can use the BDE, PLSQL, SQL EXPLORER, and TNSPING commands to test whether the ORACLE connection is correct. Next we will use TNSPING to test whether to connect.

Enter tnsping test. SOFTONE. COM at the command prompt.
