Oracle server is the unity of databases and database management systems (Oracle software) in the general sense.
The Oracle server consists of an Oracle database and an Oracle instance, as shown in Figure 1-1. Oracle Database refers to a series of physical and logical structures in which Oracle stores data. It is mainly composed of a series of operating system files. An Oracle instance is an Oracle software in the running state. It mainly consists of the memory structure of the operating system and some processes. Generally, an Oracle Server contains an instance and a corresponding database. However, in a parallel service structure, a database can correspond to multiple instances.

1.1 Oracle Database
Oracle Database is a data storage container consisting of some operating system files. Its basic function is to store all data in the database. Data Files mainly include user data, control Data and operation information. Database files can be divided into three types: data files, control files, and redo log files. The data file stores user data, and the Control File Stores Oracle initialization parameters and user passwords. The purpose of redo log files is to save the modification operation information performed by the application or the user on the database ,, when the database fails and needs to be restored, Oracle can correctly restore the original state of the database based on the record of the redo log file.
Data files, control files, and redo log files are operating system files. Oracle controls and manages these files through the operating system.

When Oracle internally organizes and manages data in databases, Oracle organizes and manages data in its own way, including tablespaces, segments, zones, databases, and schema objects, oracle organizes and manages data in a logical storage structure.
The logical and physical storage structures of Oracle are independent but closely related to each other.
