Smart filters are one of the most useful tools in Photoshop smart objects. When you apply a filter to a smart object, you can automatically create a smart filter. The benefit of applying a smart filter is to adjust the filter effect without affecting the original image of the footage.
In this issue, you will see how to create a picture effects model using a copy of two homologous smart objects and apply a filter to blur the background. After creating the image effects model, you can change different scenes simply by replacing the material of the smart object.

Figure 00
1. Prepare the Model
First need to prepare some material, you can find their own Baidu point. If you feel trouble, you can take any other material instead. The tutorial uses a handheld phone, ready to take photos.

Figure 01
Step 1
As shown in the diagram below, the picture has been pulled out of the hand, mobile phone, screen and other layers. Although the actual operation may not use so many layers, but this can be more flexible management of photo materials, improve operational efficiency.

Figure 02
Step 2
In so many layers, the most important is the "screen" layer. This layer should be transparent and contain a filler block size, such as a phone screen.

Figure 03
To create a "screen" layer, you need to carefully apply the rectangular marquee tool, select the range of the screen, and then fill the phone layer. If you feel you need to adjust the selection, you can adjust it by clicking Select > Transform selections. The color of the fill here is not specifically required because the final model is not visible when it is generated.

Figure 04
2. Prepare Smart Objects
Step 1
Drag the photo footage to the model PSD. Because the sharpness of the material itself is relatively high, you can fill the whole background without stretching. Drag the layer to the lowest end of the layers panel and rename it to "scene."

Figure 05
Step 2
There are roughly three ways to convert a scene layer to a smart object:
(1) Select "Layer > Smart object > Convert to Intelligent Object >" in main Menu;
(2) Click on the pop-up menu of the Layers panel and select "Convert to Intelligent object";
(3) Right-click the scene layer in the Layers panel and select Convert to Smart object.

Figure 06
Step 3
When you convert to an intelligent layer, a small icon appears in the thumbnail of the scene layer to indicate that the layer is a smart object. Press the LEFT ARROW to drag the smart object to the new Layer button on the layers panel so that you can create a copy of the smart object.

Figure 07
Step 4
Drag the background copy you just created to the top of the screen layer, then use the free Transform tool to adjust the background to the size of the phone screen, which requires a little bit larger than the screen.

Figure 08
Step 5
Clip the background Copy to the screen layer, which will show only the image of the screen layer fill block size, which will not be displayed, and this will not result in a clipping operation. First select the background copy, and then choose to create the clipping mask in the Layers Panel pop-up menu, or press ctrl+g directly.

Figure 09
Alternatively, move the mouse between the background copy layer and the screen layer, and then press ALT to see the mouse style change, and then click Left to create the clipping mask.

Figure 10
When a clipping mask is created, the background copy displays only the size displayed by the screen. At the same time, the background copy moves slightly to the right, and there is a small downward arrow that indicates that the background copy is "clipped" as a smart object by the following layer.
3. Add and edit Smart Filters
Step 1
Select the background Smart object layer, click "Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur", set the blur radius to 12 pixels, let the background blur, as shown in the following figure.

Figure 11
Step 2
As mentioned earlier, applying a filter to a smart object automatically creates a smart filter, and you can create a layer mask.

Figure 12
Step 3
You can manipulate the mask of the smart filter directly to block the filter effect of this mask. Here you want to create a lens effect: the closer you are, the clearer you need to weaken the blurred effect near you.
Select the mask for the smart filter in the Layers panel, where a double line indicates that the mask is being selected. Select the Gradient tool and set it to a linear gradient in black and white. Drag the gradient direction control arrow as shown in the following illustration to make the black portion of the gradient fade from the bottom to the top. As with other types of layer masks, black covers, white display.

Figure 13
After the gradient effect is generated, you can see the effect of the smart filter thumbnail in the Layers panel.

Figure 14
Here's a tip: press ALT and click on the smart filter thumbnail to see the full mask effect, and click again to return to normal mode.

Figure 15
Step 4
Here's a good model to finish. It can be seen in the background of the beach and seawater at the bottom of the photo, is more clear, and the bridge and the sky will be more blurred. This is because the black gradient masks the filter effect, while the top half of the footage applies a full blur filter effect. Here you can design the best results by constantly experimenting with the range of gradients.

Figure 16
Step 5
Smart filters are very handy, because no matter how the filter parameters are adjusted, they do not cause any quality damage to the smart object itself. If you want to adjust the effect of the blur filter, just double-click the Smart Filter icon in the Layers panel to reset it.
In a nutshell, applying a smart filter to a Smart object allows you to change the filter effect at will, without having to undo the action in the history.

Figure 17
Step 6
If you want to adjust the blending mode of the smart filter, you can select blending mode by double-clicking the small icon on the right side of the filter, as shown in the following illustration.

Figure 18
Select the blending mode you want in the Drop-down menu, where you can also adjust the opacity. Although most blending modes are not easy to apply, the process of experimentation is quite interesting, perhaps creating inspiration.

Figure 19
4. Edit Smart Objects
Now use smart objects and smart filters to create a special effects model. This allows you to edit the original smart object while changing the screen image and background image of your phone.
Step 1
Double-click the Smart object thumbnail to edit it. This is the pop-up warning dialog box that you can click no longer to display.

Figure 20
Step 2
A smart object can be opened as a separate file, and the file suffix is PSB.

Figure 21
Step 3
Here, just pull a different landscape into Photoshop, you don't need to flatten the image because the smart object can create multiple layers.

Figure 22
Step 4
Then close the save to PSB format, which will show the new phone screen view and background. The effect model works because the smart object on the phone screen is the same source as the background copy.

Figure 23
Step 5
Depending on the selected photos, adjust the blur effect or the gradient effect through the smart filter to get the best results.
Well, the above information is small compiled for you photoshop This software users brought to the details of a hand with a mobile phone to take photos of the production of a tutorial to analyze the entire content of sharing, you see the users here, small knitting believe that you are now very clear the method of production, So now you guys have to follow the tutorial and try it yourself.
