Reddit closed the dark network community, causing a heated discussion among users. As we all know, dark networks are full of weapons, drugs, malware, data intrusion, DDoS services, and fraud services, but they can only be accessed through special means. However, the huge underground market has also spawned communities related to the dark network in the table network. The/r/DarkNetMarkets community on the Reddit website is an example. Recently, Reddit closed the community, when its number of subscribers was as high as 0.18 million.
Before the Forum was closed, the Reddit Administrator issued a new "direct transaction" Ban, prohibiting users from trading certain types of goods in forums or communities. These products include:
Firearms, ammunition or explosives;
Drugs, including alcohol and tobacco, or any controlled substances (except advertisements placed according to the Reddit advertising policy );
Paid services involving physical touch;
Stolen items;
Personal information;
Forged official document or currency
In fact, Reddit has long been discussing the implementation of the new "direct transaction" ban. The shooting in the U.S. Stoneman Douglas High School in July prompted Reddit administrators to approve and execute the new ban, it mainly aims to prevent firearms and ammunition transactions on the platform.
Many Reddit users have been waiting for this for a long time:
R/DarkNetMarkets users are worried that Reddit will attack them heavily. Honestly, I believe that the FBI has told Reddit that the purpose of making this forum exist is to collect information (no official sources, just my hunch)

The ban on DarkNetMarkets is reasonable. in this community, users always talk about the dark network market, and all discussions are always oriented to transactions, market vulnerabilities, fraud, or product reviews.
Although regulators in this forum have tried their best to prohibit users from inducing transactions in the Forum, if users do not show their purchased products (usually drugs) Here, they have no other topics to talk about. In addition, in this forum, users will also launch some content about market opinions or exposure frauds. Some users actively share their things in this forum:
My favorite thing is that when the market suddenly becomes turbulent, many users flood into Reddit to describe their account details: "My account has $653.23 and there is another unfinished order, can I find it again?" * They always use the same @ * Source: https://t.co/stpIHcjLP when purchasing Sched 1 drugs in IRL reddit and onion markets

Many information security practitioners believe that this forum has been controlled by law enforcement agencies to collect information and serve as evidence of future arrest.
I think after the attack on this forum, law enforcement officers lost a clue to tracking underground intelligence. Again, AlphaBay has never had an effective alternative since it went bankrupt, so maybe this is just another step of LE.

After DarkNetMarkets suddenly disappeared, several clone forums appeared on Reddit. However, once the Reddit administrator finds evidence of illegal commodity transactions in these new communities, these clone forums will also disappear.
