In fact, this tool runs the System Policy Editor directly in the \ tools \ reskit \ netadmin \ poleditdirectory of the Windows 98 installation disk ". In addition, you can install it in Windows 98 according to the following steps.

Click "Control Panel> Add/delete programs", open the "Add/delete programs" dialog box, and click "Windows Installer> install from disk ", in the displayed dialog box, Click Browse to find the directory on the Windows 98 installation disk.

Double-click "Local User" to bring up the "local user" attribute. In the window, we can see that, "Local User attributes" include "Control Panel", "Desktop", "network", "shell", and "system. You can click the check box before a certain item and select its next-level settings to change the value in its registry. Including:

1. Control Panel: controls the functions of displays, passwords, networks, printers, and systems, and hides their attributes to prevent unauthorized users from modifying system attributes;

2. Desktop: You can select the wallpaper and color scheme, which is the same as the options in the display attribute;

3. Network: Controls file sharing and print sharing in the system;

4. Shell: Contains custom folders and restrictions on some commands and program items, which can be deleted and hidden (all program items on the desktop are hidden here );

5. System: includes restrictions on registry editing tools and MS-DOS methods (2 ).

After you modify related options in the System Policy Editor, when you close this program, you will be prompted whether to save the changed content to the Registry. If you want to save the changed settings, click "yes.

Some settings can take effect immediately after you restart the computer. For example, if you disable the registry editing tool, you only need to save the changes to the registry, when you enter the "regedit" command (Open Registry Editor) in "run", the registration editor is disabled by the Administrator.
