Reset the password in Ubuntu 16.04 (forgot the password), Ubuntu

If you forget your Ubuntu user password and cannot log on to the system, it is very easy to reset the password on Ubuntu, even if you forget the user name.

#1 Enter Recovery Mode

Recover Mode. Select "Advanced Options for Ubuntu" from the Grub Startup menu ":

If you do not enter the Grub boot menu when starting the instance, you can press and hold the Shift key when starting the instance.

#2 select? Root Drop to root shell prompt

Choose? Root...

Press enter to enter the command line;

#3 execute the following commands in sequence

 

12	# Mount-o rw, remount/# ls/home ?????? # Users in the system

Reset Password:

1	Passwd YOUR_USER_NAME

Run the exit command to return to the navigation menu and select resume... Start the system normally.
