In SQL Server Configuration Manager, expand the SQL Server 2005 network configuration, and then click the Server for example: MSSQLSERVER's protocol.
In the right pane, double-click the TCP/IP protocol.
In the TCP/IP Properties dialog box, click the IP Address tab.
In the TCP port box, in the Ipall section, enter an available port number. For this tutorial, we will use 1500.
Click OK to close the dialog box, and then click OK to warn that the service must be restarted.
In the left pane, click the Services for SQL Server 2005.
In the right pane, right-click SQL Server for example: SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER), and then click Reboot. When the database engine restarts, it listens on port 1500.

In the right pane, right-click the instance of SQL Server, and then click Restart. When the Database Engine restarts, it'll listen on port 1500.
