Ubuntu Toggle GRUB2 Start Sequence-Reprint

I also installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my desktop yesterday, but before that, the machine was installed with Windows and was used primarily for movies. So I hope that even after installing Ubuntu, Grub's preferred startup project is Windows, because the bunny may be completely overwhelmed with grub.

So with the knowledge of the past, I went to/boot/grub/to look for the Menu.lst file to modify the default startup Project. But it turned out that there was no such document at all. After searching the Ubuntu wiki, I know that the original default Menu.lst file has been/boot/grub/grub.cfg unified management. And grub.cfg is not allowed to modify directly. When we want to modify the Gurb, we must first modify the/etc/default/grub file. The following figure:

I modified grub_default=0 to grub_default=4 (my Windows Startup entry is item 5th, so choose 4).
I also added grub_gfxmode=1024x768 to increase the resolution of the Grub interface.

Of course, it's not over yet. After you save this file, you need to perform

1 $ sudo update-grub

This script to update the/BOOT/GRUB/GRUB.CFG.
After a reboot, Windows becomes the default startup item, and the display resolution is up to 1024x768.

This type of segmented management design for Ubuntu can be seen everywhere, from Apache site management to grub configuration management, adding a layer of indirect management based on directly modifying the configuration file.
Personally feel that this design, although initially some of the direction, but indirect management can be formally enabled to modify the configuration of the configuration file for a one-time check, to avoid the wrong changes cause the service can not start even the system can not start a bad scene. Such a small place does embody the design of Ubuntu's considerate users, and it would be even more perfect if you could make it a little more useful in the way that the help document was provided, for example, by documenting the correct configuration file in the original configuration file.
