Use md5crack to crack the serv-u Password

Measure the test taker's knowledge about the storage method of ServU password encryption.

First, two characters are randomly generated (from lowercase a-z characters ).

Then combine the user's original password with the two random characters to form a new password character.

For example, if the user's original password is a and the randomly generated character is dx, the new password string is: "dxa"

Use the new password string for MD5 Hash.

Dxa = f2319ae3b312103bb3259ca4242dd16c

And then store it in the INI file. The storage method is the MD5 Hash value of two random characters plus the new password characters.

ServU password cracking method:

Remove the first two random characters to get the f2319ae3b312103bb3259ca%2dd16c.

Store the MD5 Hash value to a brute-force cracking tool. When generating a dictionary, note that the first two passwords must be dx.

F2319ae3b312103bb3259ca4242dd16c = dxa

Open the program interface and select the template plug-in the plug-in. Here, two modes are provided to crack numbers and letters respectively.
For example, to crack jxE0AD5FBF101B18DB70A0CE163B1BE148
Pure numeric: [j] [x] 1-8 {0-9}
Only letters: [j] [x] 1-8 {a-z}

Ps: jx is the first two letters, and 1-8 is the number of digits to be cracked. 0-9 and a-z are the characters to be cracked.
