Use Photoshop computing tools to paint a picture palette tutorial

In this tutorial, I will show you how to use computational tools to create a new alpha channel, and adjust the color effect of a unique image. First look at the original and adjusted contrast it!

This is the effect, June. Step 1: Let's take a quick look at this picture that we're going to apply this effect to. This photo is a close-up of a succulent plant in California, and although it is very appealing in itself, I think we can make it more expressive.

Step 2: Let's say a little about the effect of using a computational tool to generate a Black-and-white blend. Although many photographers are unwilling to use it because of the complexity and confusion of computational tools, computing tools are indeed a fairly simple and straightforward approach. The calculation dialog can basically allow us to use any of the two alpha channels using any standard blending mode of PS. The channel panel is called through the main Menu's Window-channel (by default, it is together with the layers panel). A picture in the channel Panel has 4 plates: RGB shows the original color of three basic colors, red contains the picture of the red information, Green contains the picture of the green tone of information, needless to say, it is clear that the blue is a picture of the blue tone of information.

Step 3: Click on each individual channel in the channel panel to see the picture information presented by each channel in detail. In this picture, I found that the red and green channels are very similar, but the blue channel is clearly showing more contrast and detail. To understand the contrast of each channel first, we can better use the computing tools. After reading the various channels of the picture, click Back to the RGB composite channel and switch to the layers panel.

Step 4: Don't think about it, open "image-compute" in the main menu. When the Calculation dialog box opens, you will notice that the picture becomes black and white immediately, and the dialog box shows the default setting. Although I did not make any adjustments to the original picture, I have already presented the color and mix combination I chose. I will take the blue channel as my first adjustment step because the blue channel contrast of this picture is the most obvious one. Although the red channel and the green channel contrast little, but compared to the blue channel, I slightly biased in the red channel details, so my second adjustment step is the red channel. Finally I choose the superimposed blending mode. Blending mode is actually a cool, interesting setting because it has a very different effect. Make sure the result is set to the new channel, and then click OK.

Step 5: Click OK later, you will find that the picture does not cut back the original color, this is because by default it automatically chooses to create a new alpha channel. Click Back to the channel panel to take a closer look. You will see at the bottom of the original channel that a channel named Alpha 1 has been created automatically.

Step 6: Keep the alpha 1 channel in the selected state, CTRL + a Select the entire canvas, and then CTRL + C copy the channel. Now click Back to the RGB hybrid channel and switch to the layers panel and CTRL + V to paste the channel content we just copied. This will automatically create a black and white version of the new layer, look, the calculation tool is too good! (Small suggestion: I suggest that the layer should be named, based on the purpose of your calculation tool, so that it is convenient to use later)

Step 7: Next we create a new gradient layer below the calculation layer. Here's a tip: Hold down the CTRL key and click on the "New Layer" button underneath the layers panel, and the new layer will be created below the current layer. Name the layer as a gradient.

Step 8: We set the foreground and background colors for the gradient layer. Sets the foreground color to tints, the color value is #c34614, the background color is dark, and the color value is #561800. Shortcut g pull up the gradient tool, in the gradient selector, select the gradient from the foreground to the background color, and click the radial gradient.

Step 9: Add a radial gradient to the layer below. Because the foreground color is lighter, the gradient trend is from light to deep, so the gradient should start with the area where I want the high light, and then release the gradient drag at the top edge of the layer.

Step 10: Now we want to combine the effects of the calculated layer and the gradient layer, select the calculation layer and change the blending mode to "overlay." (recommendation: Try a different gradient until you find the one that works best for your picture, and it will be a great help before you do this step.) )

Step 11: After this step is completed, you will feel that the picture also needs a little bit of adjustment (maybe your need not to adjust, but I think I need), click on the layer below the layers of the "create a new fill or adjust Layer" button, choose to add a curve adjustment layer, and placed at the top layer.

Step 12: Complete

Step 13: This technique will make a picture of a different effect, the effect is very good oh. I hope you've learned something useful from this tutorial, and you've also found that the Black-and-white conversion of computing tools does produce some very chic results. Let's leave a job for everyone, adjust the different color effect.
