Feedsync is Microsoft's extension to the RSS protocol. It has just released V1.0. The previous v0.9 version is namedSSE(Simple sharing extensions ). The official website is http://FeedSync.org, protocol standards can be seen in http://dev.live.com/feedsync/spec/v1.htm.
This protocol is designed by Ray Ozzie, chief software architect at Microsoft, to share and synchronize data on the Internet using the RSS/atom protocol. Currently, all RSS/atom protocols are read-only. That is to say, users can only download data through RSS/atom and cannot upload data. Feedsync is designed to solve this problem. This framework is explained from the figure below.
As you can see, feedsync is a two-way synchronization protocol. In addition to the data upload function, feedsync solves the problem of data conflict. For example, taking online documents as an example, the documents are stored on the server and may be modified at any time on my home computer, company computer, or notebook, at this time, there may be three documents of different versions. feedsync can solve this conflict.
I believe that with Web ApplicationsProgramMore and more places will need to solve the data synchronization problem, feedsync will be a good solution. Feedsync is published with the copyright of Creative Commons license. We encourage you to develop protocol-related tools.
