Article Description: adobe launches mobile web design tool shadow.

March 9, Adobe announces the launch of a new web design tool, shadow, which helps web designers View and adjust Web pages across multiple mobile devices. Adobe also updates its HTML5 animation tool software edge to PREVIEW4.

Shadow is divided into three parts, computer-side main program, computer-side Chrome browser extensions and mobile device-side app. Currently, the main program supports Windows7 and Mac OS X, which can be downloaded from the Adobe Lab Web page and is expected to be released by the end of this year. Mobile devices support iOS and Android and are free to download from the App Store or Google Play.

When a computer is paired with a mobile device, a web designer can use the Chrome browser to display the contents of a Web page at the same time as a computer and an action device, to see if the display on the end of the machine and the devices is correct. Since shadow can control multiple mobile devices at the same time, designers can test Web pages in many different mobile devices at the same time. Shadow has connected up to 35 mobile devices, Adobe does not disclose the maximum number of units can be controlled, but think users can not encounter the upper limit.

In the event of an unexpected discrepancy in any device, the designer can use the shadow extension feature of the Chrome browser to modify the content of the Web page, such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, and to view the modified effect after storage in different devices.

In addition to shadow, Adobe also provides online services Browserlab allows web designers to examine the status of Web pages in different devices, with the difference being that Browserlab is presented in a simulated way and shadow in the form of entities.

Shadow is based on open source project WinRE development. WinRE requires program-compiling skills for installation and use, while shadow dramatically lowers the user's technical threshold. The main reason Adobe chooses Chrome to match is that the browser engine uses open source WebKit, which has the best, most popular, and regularly updated web site detection, debugging tool.

Currently shadow supports iOS 4.2, Android2.2, and both newer versions of the mobile device. While other platforms, such as blueberries or Windows Phone, are temporarily out of support, Adobe has yet to decide whether to support a mobile device platform other than iOS and Android.
