Windows 8.1 Update 1 Hands-on

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is almost done, and the team's next work should be left with bug fixes and tweaks. For desktop and tablet users, the Update 1 brings a lot of change and new features, and this video is a quick overview for you. Windows 8.1 Update1 is now capable of detecting user hardware and adjusting settings accordingly. If you are using a tablet computer, the system will render the modern UI.

If you are using a notebook/desktop, the system can also automatically enable the "Boot to desktop" feature, as well as some other easier mouse operation of the fine-tuning.

Modern UI applications are also upgraded to new features and are now taskbar able to hover for quick access from the desktop. Then there's a title bar so everyone can minimize it or close it.

On the SkyDrive side, the goods have just changed their new names recently--onedrive--but the basic function has not changed much. On the desktop side, however, the OneDrive icon returns to the taskbar, meaning you can more easily access the contents of the cloud (without having to open the File Manager/file Explorer and manually jump to OneDrive).

Update 1 also brings up the contextual menu for the Start screen (context menus), which means that they do not have to let their hands hold the mouse pointer over the screen for non-touchscreen users. In addition, there are two new buttons on the start screen, namely power and search. However, on a touchscreen device, the power icon still does not appear by default.

App list, this update makes it easy to see all the apps in alphabetical order, but you can also change the number of apps that can be displayed at once.
