According to articles on the Microsoft support forum, installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 will bring some PCs into the embarrassing situation of unlimited restart (this has happened before in Windows Vista SP1 ).
Jesper Johansson, Microsoft's security policy project manager, said in a technical statement that the problem only exists on PCs containing AMD processors.

On Wednesday, the XP SP3 support newsgroup reported a fault. According to the user report, the problems after the SP3 installation were almost the same as those after the last Windows Vista SP1 installation.

"The system is restarted as soon as you enter the Windows desktop". These users cannot even boot to the Windows security mode.
