Ping Command to troubleshoot LAN

Not long ago, a good student was promoted to a LAN Network Manager due to his previous network management work transfer. For a long time, when I took office, I encountered a big mess: many machines were abnormal, they could not access the Internet, and their neighbors could not access the internet. I am a little confused because my classmates are also half way out of the house. If you ask me for help, I also heard that there is a ping command that can quickly and accurately determine where a network fault occurs, it can accurately determine whether the network card and line are normal, whether the DNS and gateway configurations are correct, so as to quickly solve network faults and ask how to use them. I thought: Well, it was a little time for the SA family to work as a part-time network manager in their own unit. It was just a little time for you to find me and find the right Buddha! ^ _*

Pingcommand is called “ping.exe. It is a very useful tool provided by Microsoft for testing network connections and can accurately and quickly identify network faults. Next I will take this machine in my office as an example to illustrate how to use the ping command to quickly find out network faults. My office host: the IP address of the DNS server used is 202.102.152.3, the gateway is 172.30.0.1, and the local IP address is 172.30.0.217.

1. Verify that the NIC is working properly:

Click Start/Program/MS-DOS mode, enter Ping 172.30.0.217 at the prompt, and press enter to run. If the first prompt appears, the network interface will certainly work normally. If the four "request timeout" prompts appear, it indicates that the network interface is not working properly.

2. verify whether the network line is normal or not:

Enter the MS-DOS mode, enter Ping 172.30.0.1 after the prompt, and press enter to run. If two prompts are displayed, the network line is unblocked. If four "request timeout" prompts are displayed, the network line is faulty.

3. Verify that the DNS configuration is correct:

Enter the MS-DOS mode, prompt and enter any domain name (I use www.163.com here), to see if it can be resolved into an IP address. Enter "Ping www.163.com" and press enter to run. If three messages are displayed, the DNS server is correctly configured. If the message "unknown host name" is displayed, the DNS configuration error occurs.

4. Verify that the gateway configuration is correct:

Enter the MS-DOS mode, prompt and enter the IP address of any external host (I use the IP address "202.108.42.72" of www.163.com just ping "), check whether IP packets can be sent from hosts in the network to hosts outside the network. Enter Ping 202.108.42.72 and press enter to run the command. If the four message prompts are displayed, the gateway configuration is correct. If the four "request timeout" prompts are displayed, the gateway settings are incorrect.

All right, guys who are upgrading network management, I believe that through the above four-step ping command test, you will be able to quickly and accurately identify the network faults of some hosts in your local bureau's network, and then take the right medicine.
