Windows Server 2003 default shutdown services

When you run unnecessary services, there is at least a small risk. Therefore, these services are turned off in Windows Server 2003 before they are required to be provided. The following table shows the services that are turned off by default in Windows Server 2003, as compared to Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional installations.

In Windows 2000, the Local System account is the only logon identity account that is used by all services. The local service account and the Network Service logon identity System account are new in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.
