1 Software Installation
1.1 Preparation before installation
Please confirm that you have received a software installation CD from ESRI China (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and an email containing the license authorization file (*.prvs or *.PRVC).

*.prvs is a license for a floating version, and *.PRVC is a standalone version of the license. The following is an example of a floating edition license, which describes the installation of the software.

Before installing, verify the system, hardware, and software environment for the software you are installing to meet the installation requirements of ArcGIS for Desktop 10.4.

Supported operating Systems
The following table is a complete list of operating systems supported by ArcGIS for Desktop 10.4, and it is highly recommended that you check the operating system for compliance before installation if the installation time mismatch may be a direct error.


Hardware Requirements
Generally, the mainstream configuration, memory at least 2G, disk space at least 2.8G. Most computers meet the hardware requirements. Of course, with the rich software features, more resources to occupy more than the previous version, high-performance computer software will be more fluent.

Software Requirements
Before installing desktop, make sure that you have the following software environment, be sure to install the software, otherwise it will cause the software to use the exception.

1. You need to install the. NET Framework 4.5 or later before installing.

2. IE version is at least 9, higher version 10, 11 can also.

1.2 Installing the ArcGIS Licence Manager
Open the installation CD and select Install ArcGIS Licence Manager, the software will be decompressed first. When the decompression is complete, click Close to enter the installation.

Select Accept License Agreement, click Next until complete.





1.3 License Authorization Process
License authorization is available in two ways, depending on the Internet connection of the machine to which you want to authorize it: one is online authorization, and the other is offline authorization.

Below we take the online authorization as an example to explain the license authorization process.

1) Click "Start" > "ArcGIS" > "License Server Administrator";

2) point to authorization. In the form on the right, select the version of the product you want to authorize, and then tap authorize now ...;



3) The system pops up the "Software Authorization Wizard" dialog box, select the 3rd item in the interface "I have received an authorization file from ESRI and am now ready to finish the authorization Process ". Click "Browse ...", point to the *.prvs file that you saved on your local hard disk, and then click Next;



4) Select authorize with Esri now using the Internet, which is the default way to activate the license over the Internet, click Next;



5) Verify the import registration information, including: User name, address, telephone, etc., and then enter the usual e-mail address, click "Next";



6) Select the unit/company, and the corresponding industry category and other information, click "Next";



7) Verify the license level, license number, and quantity of the ArcGIS for Desktop Master module, and then click Next after making sure that it is correct;



8) If you have purchased an extension, please verify the registration number of the relevant extension and click "Next" after making sure that it is correct;



9) The system automatically submits the registration information to ESRI's license server through the network and completes the authorization.



When you see the congratulations greeting, the authorization process is complete.

1.4 Installing ArcGIS for Desktop
Open the installation CD and select Install ArcGIS Desktop and the software will unzip it first. When the decompression is complete, click Close to enter the installation, click Next until complete.



1) After installing ArcGIS for Desktop 10.4, run ArcGIS Administrator from the Start menu > ArcGIS directory.

2) Click on the "Desktop" directory on the left and select the option of the same main module type as the previous authorization, and click the "Change" button.



3) in the pop-up Change License Manager Small window, enter theIP AddressOrMachine name。 If ArcGIS for desktop is installed on the same machine as ArcGIS License Server Administrator, you can also fill out localhost in a small window.



4) Check the availability of the ArcGIS Manager for licensing. Click on the "Availability" item on the left and see the "Availability" column on the right, with a number greater than 0 to start the ArcGIS Desktop program.
