Google open Blank Spectrum database API

Compared to the traditional Wi-Fi signal, the unused frequency of white spaces will have a more significant development prospects, so Google created an API that can make this part of the resource easier to use. Using this Spectrum database API, the Spectrum data API can be used to search for frequencies not yet occupied by television and radio signals, especially in the U.S. region, and to register devices using these frequencies to broadcast wireless internet.

Using this part of the television and broadcast unused frequencies, the signal can spread farther than the current Wi-Fi signal, and is less affected by the obstruction. The use of the blank spectrum can also provide better Internet access to rural areas where large-scale network infrastructure costs are too high and difficult to install.

Google has been a proponent of the use of Tvws (TV white spaces, unused blank radio spectrum) for the past few years. After testing this March, the FCC approved the use of Google's Tvws database in June this year. In April, cal.net, the Internet service provider, released the first consumer-level blank broadband service in California to provide users with 2-4mbps speed broadband.

There is already a company using Google's database and providing broadband services. Adaptrum Google's database with its own devices, providing a public Wi-Fi access Service for the University of West Virginia. The development of the current gap spectrum network is still relatively slow, with the first test of a broadband network in 2009, but the early network in North Carolina State Park was built in 2012, and Google's latest database API will accelerate the development of the technology.
