　　First, write the text

1, open the AI software, a new size appropriate document, select the Text tool, write the text you want to express.

Here, I write the teacher's English name Ray. Font selection is more casual, a little thicker.

2, into the "object > Expand Appearance", the text is ungrouped.

Next, copy the three letters, paste them above the original letter, and then cancel the copied text, and the stroke is set to a different color than the previous letter. The stroke size is determined by the size of the file you set, and the end result is this:

　　Second, cut off the path

1, select the first letter of the stroke, using the "scissors" tool, the letter in the strokes of the selection can be "cut off" this path. The purpose of the shear path is to prepare for the next we will use the art brush, so that its performance is not so "rules", to achieve the aesthetic effect of the reverse rule.

2, cut off the path of the place as shown in the blue dots, of course, these are not established rules, according to the different letter form changes.

After cutting the path, remember to select the right mouse button to "release compound path" so that each path that is "cut off" becomes an object that can be edited independently. Here I use the color path to differentiate.

　　Third, the magic of art brushes

1. Select the first letter "R" of the path that has just been cut, find the definition brush option box in the toolbar, and click the Drop-down menu.

2, click on the upper right corner of the option box, enter the "Open Brush Library > Art Effect > Artistic effect-Chalk charcoal pencil", in the Brush library to select a suitable text for your brush as a stroke. At this point, your text will change as follows, where I choose the "charcoal-soft" stroke. Stroke size I set is 2pt, according to the actual situation you can also arbitrarily increase or decrease.

3. After extending the appearance of the charcoal stroke, open the Path Finder and select the merged path along with the black original letter that fills it.

At this time, the letter has become like a monster shadow.

4, according to the method just tried, choose another art effect of the brush-chalk, and then use the line tool randomly in the letters to draw a few straight lines, the line with chalk strokes. Color can be selected white, the effect is as follows.

It's like a weather-beaten face ~ is that what we want? But remember when those lines or paths, what you need to do is to expand the appearance of the straight line path, and then let it Go "pierced" the letter, so that in the future use of time variant for PNG image use, "Frost traces" will not be fixed to white.

The way to do this is to select the line group to expand the appearance, and then select the underlying letter, then open the Path Finder, click the "Exclude" command.
