How can I use a USB flash drive to install Windows XP?

A lot of people find the Windows installation CD when the system is down. When you cannot find a CD, or the machine does not have a CD, you are helpless. In fact, you can use a USB flash drive to start Windows PE first, and then install Windows XP directly in the running environment of Windows PE.

There is a little skill to use this method. In addition, the computer is required to support USB flash drive startup.

 

1. Create a USB flash drive that can start Windows PE.

There are many ways to create a Windows PE for a USB flash drive. The methods I have tested are as follows, then, use ultraiso to release the image directly to the USB flash disk. When releasing, I chose the USB-HDD type.

After the preparation is complete, use this USB flash drive for a try. If you can start Windows PE, then you can certainly have no problem.

Of course, some USB flash drives can also be made into USB flash drive CDROM using some special "production tools", which is simpler.

 

2. You can copy the Installation File of Windows XP to any partition of the computer first. You can also copy the installation file to the new windows PE boot USB flash drive. Assume that the installation file is copied to D:/WINXP folder.

 

3. Install the system.

Note: Because the disk you boot is a USB flash drive, if you install the system directly in the normal way, installProgramIt will be installed on your USB flash drive. Solution: use special parameters of the winnt32 installer to change the system disk.

Start Windows PE and open a command prompt.

Switch to the disk of the Windows XP installation file and enter the i386 folder.

D:

CD/WINXP/i386

 

Start the installer:

Winnt32/syspart: c

The subsequent steps are no different from the general installation steps.
