Apple will no longer offer USB version of OS X Mountain installer this year, and you can only download OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store for an upgrade installation. But if you have more than one Mac you want to upgrade, each computer to download a separate installation program, it must be a waste of time, after all, the installation package capacity of up to 4.34GB.

In fact, after you have downloaded the installer on one computer, you can first back it up to another place (be sure to back it up, because the installer downloaded after the upgrade installation is automatically removed from the default saved location-the "Applications" directory), and then use this installer to make a standalone installation of the USB version USB flash drive, this USB flash drive can not only be used to upgrade and install other MAC computers, but also can be used to install new Mountain Lion.

USB flash drive version Mountain Lion setup steps are as follows (at least 8GB in capacity and the number of original data will be lost):

First download the OS X Mountain Lion installer from the Mac App Store.

Insert the prepared 8GB USB drive into your MAC and make sure the USB drive is recognized by the system. Start the Disk utility (press the shortcut key CTRL + Space, then enter "Disk Utility"--carriage return), select the inserted USB drive on the left side of the window, click the partition on the right, partition layout select "1 Partitions", then click "Options" below, select the GUID partition table, then click "OK"-"app", Start the partition and format it.

Then find your OS X Mountain Lion Installer (application folder or other place you have stored, you must find it in the Finder), check the installer and right-click-Show Package Content--contents--sharedsupport, After opening the directory you will find a file called INSTALLESD.DMG, double click on this installesd.dmg.

The image file will then be verified and mounted, and the mount will automatically appear to the left of disk utility, select it and then click on the Recovery tab in the right window. The INSTALLESD.DMG should now be in the "Source Disk" column. Then drag your USB drive partition from the left side of the window to the target disk column.

Make sure the source disk is INSTALLESD.DMG and the destination disk is your USB drive partition

Click Restore, then the system will ask you to enter the password once, after the input is complete, you can start to recover. After the restore, you can use it to install the OS X Mountain Lion system directly to other computers, even if the Mountain Lion installation disk is finished.

By the way, if you do not have a USB flash drive, you can also directly use a 8GB capacity of the SD card to make, of course, the use of mobile hard disk is not a problem.
