How do I enter a special symbol in a Word document
1, create a new Word document, on the Insert tab, in the Special Symbols option group, click the Symbol button, and in the Drop-down list, select the symbol you want, and insert it into your document, as shown in Figure 1.

2. Select the special symbol that you just inserted, click Office Button, and in the Drop-down menu that opens, click the Word Options button to open the Word Options dialog box. Switch to the Proofing tab and click the AutoCorrect Options button, as shown in Figure 2.

3. In the AutoCorrect tab of the AutoCorrect dialog box that opens, select the Automatically replace as you type check box, where you can see that Excel automatically enters the symbol you just selected into the Replace with text box. Then in the Replace text box, set the shortcut key to enter the symbol, such as [, as shown in Figure 3.

4, click the "Add" button, and then click the "OK" button in succession, close all the dialog boxes and return to the Word document. Once the settings are complete, you can quickly enter a special symbol by using a shortcut key such as [.]
