When you install Office 2003, the Equation Editor will not be installed by default if you use a typical installation method. Therefore, if the user cannot find the Microsoft Formula 3.0 option in the Object Type list of Word2003, you will need to install the Equation Editor tool. For example, in a Windows XP system, the following steps are described:

Step 1th, in the Start menu, select Settings → control Panel menu commands, as shown in Figure 2009012210.

Step 2nd, open the Control Panel window and double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon, as described in Figure 2009012211.

Step 3rd, in the open Add or Remove Programs dialog box, switch to the Change or Remove Programs tab, select the Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 option in the currently installed programs list, and click the Change button. As shown in Figure 2009012212.

Step 4th, open the Maintenance Mode Options dialog box of the Microsoft Office 2003 Setup Wizard, select the Add or Remove Features Radio box, and click the Next button, as shown in Figure 2009012213.

Step 5th, in the Open Custom Installation dialog box, select the Choose advanced Customization for Application check box and click Next, as shown in Figure 2009012214.

Step 6th, open the Advanced Customization dialog box, expand the Office Tools directory, and click Formula Editor. Select Run from my Computer in the Open menu, as shown in Figure 2009012215.

Step 7th, the Setup Wizard prompts the user to find the Office2003 installation source file, clicks the browse button to locate the Office installation source file, and clicks the OK button to complete the installation, as shown in Figure 2009012216.
