How does Excel quickly detach from merging multiple columns or single cell data? Excel quickly separates the data in the merged cells, with multiple columns of cell data merged into one column, or single cell data separated into multiple columns.

Steps

First we open a work sample as an example.

We box the name of this more than one column of data, merge it into one cell. Complex operation, we can use the & connector. Then copy and paste its value.

Or use the copy and paste command to manually paste a single cell. Remember that you cannot use copied cells while pasting, but instead select the contents of the cell to copy and paste.

Or, using the Fill feature, first copy the source data to the target cell range, and then resize the column cell width to fit all the data row fully displayed.

Complete multiple-column cell merge data by clicking on the alignment under the Fill Drop-down menu in the Start tab panel.
