How Excel determines the description of the current calculation pattern

In Microsoft Excel, all currently open documents use the same calculation, regardless of the mode mode in which they are saved.

To help illustrate how to determine the calculation pattern, this article refers to the following hypothetical document:

The following statement applies to the calculation mode in Excel:

(1) Open the first document using the calculation mode that was last saved. The document opened subsequently uses the same pattern.

For example, if you open Auto1.xls and then open Manual1.xls, the two documents are calculated using automatic

(using the Auto1.xls mode). If you open Manual1.xls and then open Auto1.xls, the two documents use manual calculations.

(2) Change the calculation mode of an open document to change the mode of all open documents.

If

Auto1.xls and Auto2.xls are open, Auto2.xls.

The calculation mode changed to manual also changes the Auto1.xls mode to manual.

(3) Include all worksheets in the workbook using the same calculation mode.

If

Auto2.xls contains three worksheets, and the calculation mode of the first worksheet changes to the hand in the other two tables that will also change the calculated pattern.

(4) If you close all other documents and create a new document, the new document will use the same calculation mode as the previous closing document.

However, if you are using a template, the calculation mode is the pattern specified in the template.

(5) If you have changed the calculation mode in the workbook and saved the file, the current calculation mode will be saved.

How to control the calculation mode

All open documents use the same calculation mode. You must perform special steps to process documents that use different calculation modes. For example, if you are using Auto1.xls and you want to open Manual1.xls in manual calculation mode, do any of the following:
