When we were using computers, we certainly had such complaints? Why are computers getting slower and slower? Why is the computer's C drive getting smaller? We must have encountered such problems frequently. Indeed, with the gradual development of computer hardware and the rapid changes in the computer software industry, more and more things can be done on the computer, then we installed more and more software on our computers. In recent years, PC users have been very aware of the size of the remaining space on the C drive, which also determines the speed of running the program while using the computer.
Many people have begun to install some non-system software on other disks, but even this still cannot prevent the computer from getting smaller and smaller the space left on the C disk... There may be many reasons for this. When we use a browser, We cache files, system memory dump files, thumbnail caches, and many cached files when we use software, these are all saving our c drive. Although many people have developed a good habit of regularly clearing junk files, they still cannot completely stop our system disk from getting smaller and smaller, the computer is getting slower and slower. It is indeed very effective and necessary for www.2cto.com to regularly deploy disk fragments and clear disk spam. But is there any way we can save space for C disks? Today, I will introduce you to a relatively practical small method, which can greatly save our system disk space. I believe many of us have heard of the virtual memory. It is a technology that can use some hard disk space to act as our memory. When our memory is exhausted, the computer will automatically call the hard disk to act as the memory to ease the memory shortage. By default, the virtual memory allocated by the system should be about 1.5-3 times of our physical memory, which will be placed in our system disk. You can use the tool-Folder option-view-to remove the check box before hiding the protected operating system file and select Show Hidden Files, folders, and drives.

Pagefile. sys: This is the virtual memory file in our system. It usually occupies several GB of space. So how can we put it in another extended partition? In fact, it is very simple. First of all, if you have more than one hard disk, you 'd better set the virtual memory file to a hard disk without an operating system or application, or the fastest speed in all hard disks, so that when the system is busy, the same hard disk will not be busy reading application data and performing paging operations at the same time.
On the contrary, if the application and virtual memory files are on different hard disks, the hard disk utilization can be minimized and the efficiency can be improved. It doesn't matter if you don't have more than two disks. We can also store the virtual memory file in other partitions to save disk C space. Www.2cto.com first, make sure that you have the permissions of the system administrator. Then, right-click the computer, select properties, and select Advanced system settings.

Then select Settings

On the Advanced tab, click Change

Select the size of the paging file for automatic management of all drives, and then select drive C. Select a non-paging file and click Settings.

Then select the location where you want to store the virtual memory-select the Custom Size and enter the initial size and maximum value. Generally, the minimum value is about half of the system memory, and the maximum value is 1.5 times of the system memory. Or you can select the system management size, click Settings, and then restart the system, so that your configuration will take effect.

After restarting, we can see that the virtual memory files are no longer visible on drive C.

In disk D, we found pagefile. sys.

In this way, we can save a lot of space for the system disk. If you have other disks, it will be better to put the virtual memory on other disks, it is also helpful for improving the efficiency of our system. This article is from Wenqi's ladder
