How to resize images in batches using gThumb in Linux

If your work involves image editing and processing, you will certainly experience batch resizing of multiple images at the same time. Although most image editing applications can easily adjust multiple images in batches, it is not easy for new users to find and use relevant functions, therefore, this article will introduce how to use gThumb software in a Linux Desktop System to resize images in batches.

GThumb is an advanced image viewing and browser. It has many useful functions, such as browsing files from the file system, showing slides, image grouping, creating online albums, importing files from the camera, burning image CDs, and batch file processing, and fast processing functions including rotation and color adjustment.

Note: The following content is based on gThumb 3.4.3 in Ubuntu 16.04.

Because the main steps are centered on gThumb, make sure that you have installed the application in the system. If not, search for the installation in the Ubuntu Software Center.

After gThumb is installed, you can click to select the image to be processed in batches or select all images (Ctrl + A), right-click and select open mode, and choose to use gThumb to open the image.

Also, after selecting the desired Image or all images, click the "Tools" button of gThumb and select the "Resize Image" batch Image size processing option.

In the displayed "adjust image size" dialog box, you can scale the image by percentage or manually specify the pixel height and width to set the size of the new image, you can also select the "retain original aspect ratio" option as needed. After setting, you only need to select the path and format of the new image storage and then click "execute.

Although gThumb is an image display and browser application, it still allows us to do some basic image editing work, in addition to batch processing and operations on the image size, it also allows users to rotate images, convert formats, and change image metadata. You can try it.
