How to send emails safely

The original intention of email is to facilitate communication between scientists or professionals. The earliest idea was that only two people with mutual trust could send emails to each other. Therefore, the e-mail security issue did not attract people's attention at the beginning of the invention. Unfortunately, this new form of communication has begun to become popular among spam makers and hackers, and it is no longer possible to redesign the system. Due to its inherent security defects, the security performance of emails can be greatly enhanced by using additional security protection and modifying email usage behaviors.

1. Use first-class email programs

Although all email programs have no difference in sending emails, their security performance is quite different. An effective email program should be able to Filter Junk information in the inbox, and provide the most basic email attachment scanning.

Suggestion:

G-mail is a good Web-based email program. Its high-security junk mail filtering feature will ensure that your inbox is free of spam. However, all virus scans are not quite satisfactory. Before you download the attachment, you 'd better check your personal virus scanner first.

Mozilla Thunderbird is also an excellent email program. Thunderbird uses the same Email Protocol as Microsoft's Outlook, both of which are POP (Post Office Protocol for receiving emails) or IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol, internet Message Access Protocol ).

2. Handle email attachments with caution

When you download an attachment, your computer assumes that you know what you are doing. Therefore, your firewall will not check whether the attachment is secure. The only protection between your computer and the attachment is a simple scan of the cat. As the security level set for attachments is too low, it is strange that hackers use malicious attachments to launch attacks. In fact, it is inferred that 90% of computer viruses are transmitted in this way. To sum up, be cautious when handling email attachments in the inbox.

Suggestion:

Do not open attachments sent by strangers easily. They do not work for well-known companies, no matter how official or formal the email looks. Spammers have spared no effort and are doing well in making emails seem legal. Therefore, scanning emails before downloading is far from enough. On the contrary, you should resolutely prohibit strangers or any attachments from the company from directly downloading the information you need from the relevant websites of the company.

If a friend's computer is infected, you may also receive emails containing viruses. In this sense, even attachments sent by acquaintances are not reliable. If you do not want to use attachments, you can call and use instant messaging software to check whether they have sent attachments to you before downloading them.
