How to share files with Samba in Ubuntu 14.04
We are already familiar with Samba, a tool for file sharing in Linux. Today we will introduce how to use Samba in Ubuntu 14.04 to share network files, printers, and other public resources.
1. Install Samba and graphical configuration tools
Use Ctrl + Alt + T to open the terminal and run the following command to install
Sudo apt-get install samba-common system-config-samba python-glade2 gksu
2. Search for and enable the Samba Configuration tool in Unity Dash.

3. Enable server settings under preferences
You can see the basic labels:
■ Workgroup: the name of the workgroup in Windows is the same (case sensitive ).
■ Description: The description here is similar to that of users in Windows.
We recommend that you keep the default settings when sharing the Security tab in the home.
4. (optional) create a user for network sharing
Open System settings-User Account-click to unlock-enter the administrator password and click + to create a user
After creating an account, do not forget to set a password for it.
