How to make a double exposure in the late stage

I believe many friends who play film are not unfamiliar with the method of photographing multiple exposures. But for a digital camera user like me, it would be a good technique to use Photoshop to produce the same effect.

Some time ago I saw on YouTube that I had been subscribed to by a photographer Aaron Nace has launched a video tutorial to make double or even multiple exposures, so we decided to finish the tutorial after reading it as a text, recommended to the domestic wall to view YouTube, And friends who have always been curious about this technology.

The steps are as follows:

Looking for a picture to synthesize

1. Look for some pictures that you want to synthesize. Today's selection of tutorial prepared three photos, a female head shot, a big tree landscape (less sky details, strong tree and background contrast, prominent contour), a blurred spot map (placed at the top to create a layer of Windows effect).

Drag all the footage to a picture window

2. Drag all the footage to a picture window as a different layer.

3. Decide which photo to use as the background layer (that is, a layer that is the contour of the human face in common multiple exposures). Aaron NACE uses a photo of that tree as a background layer here.

4. Copy the background layer once (pc:ctrl+j or mac:cmd+j).

5. Copy layer as background "black and white":

"Black and white" copy layer as background

Image->adjustments->black&white (PC:ALT+SHIFT+CTRL+B) and adjusts the exposure and contrast in black-and-white layers according to their aesthetic preferences.

6. Open the portrait layer and spot layer respectively, adjust them, repeat the 5th step separately, adjust the picture to black and white and adjust the contrast and exposure further.

Let the window show only the background layer of the tree

7. Close the "small eyes" in front of the portrait and spot layers so that only the background layer of the tree is displayed in the window. Select->color range-> Select the trunk portion (the white part of the picture) with the eyedropper. Click OK and you will see the area of the trunk that has been picked up in the window.

8. Open the "small eyes" in front of the portrait layer and add a mask to the portrait layer. Because the area of the trunk has been selected in the seventh step, the selection of the tree trunk is automatically selected in the mask while the mask is added to the portrait layer.

Freedom to move portrait layers

9. Portrait layers and masks have a "small chain", click on the small chain you will find it disappeared. At this point you can move the portrait layer freely, but at the same time keep the trunk's mask from moving as the portrait moves.

10. Use black and white brush to clean the mask further and carefully. For example, a person's eyebrows are partially obscured by a tree trunk mask, and a black brush is used to erase the part of the eyebrow to make this part of the portrait layer appear.

11. Increase the spot effect of window glass. Open the Spot layer and select the color screen mode in the layer blending mode to make the highlight visible.

12. It's done!

By the way, let's introduce Aaron NACE to the people. He's a pretty famous American mechanic, and I adore the business photographer Eric Almas, who are all his clients. He himself took some commercial photographs, but the main business was still in the late stages of photography. I have seen his synthetic works very early, each one is very creative and the style is changeable, always want to look for this cow's tutorial, until one day accidentally from PHLEARNLLC channel into the relevant links, just know Phlearn Tutorial in this narcissistic funny and lovely sowing the Lord is Aaron Nace himself, he each time in a relaxed and lively way to those seemingly difficult PS skill analysis is simple and clear, to PS learners is a great encouragement.
