On the dialog box that prompts you to open the program error check my resume and restart Microsoft Office Word, and then click Do not send. Click on the Prompt box to start Word in Safe mode:

Create a new Word document, and then click the Tools, Options:

Select File location, select User Template, click Modify:

Click the Up-level button on the Open dialog box:

Right-click the Templates folder, and then select Resource Manager:

The Open Explorer window, which is the location where the template file is saved, closes word, deletes the Normal.dot file, and then restarts word to fix the question that prompts Safe mode:
