1. Configure the Broadband Router.

After the hardware connection is complete, we need a PC that has been connected to the LAN port of the Broadband Router for specific settings. Before setting, we should confirm that this machine has already installed the TCP/IP network protocol. The machine used by the author is the XP operating system, and the settings of other operating system platforms are almost the same, next let's take a look at how we need to configure on this PC.

Configure the TCP/IP options for the PC:

Right-click the network neighbor icon on the desktop and click the "properties" option.

In the displayed window, right-click the local connection and choose "properties.

In the displayed dialog box, double-click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) option ".

In the pop-up dialog box, select the "use the following IP Address" option, then we can set the IP address of this PC. The factory IP address of the Broadband Router is 192.168.0.1, so we need to set the configured PC and the Broadband Router in the same CIDR block. Here, we set the IP address of this PC to 192.168.0.254, The subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway is 192.168.0.1.

With the above settings, we can log on to the vro for specific configuration. First, double-click the IE browser on the desktop and enter the IP address of 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.

Double-click ie on the desktop and enter the IP address of 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.

After you press enter, we can see the configuration interface of this vro. Because this is the first configuration, user name verification is not required by default. Some broadband routers require user names and verification. For example, for D-Link products, the default user name is admin, and the default password is null. in the case of products with user name and password verification, you can view the user name and password in the product manual.

Then, click the "Installation Wizard" option to enter the Configuration Wizard interface of the router. This page displays a welcome page for the Configuration Wizard. You can click Next to continue the configuration.

At this time, there will be an Internet access option interface, in which we can make specific choices based on their own broadband lines, currently, many broadband access lines are used, including ADSL, cable modem, and residential broadband. If it is a cable modem line, we can choose the first one, we can select the second option for ADSL and residential broadband lines. Assume that the user is using the ADSL line, select the second item, and click Next to continue configuration.

Next, we also need to select the login Method for login. Generally, telecom operators use the pppoe dialing method to manage users, so here we select the first item, and then click Next.

After clicking Next, you will be asked to fill in some information. pppoe dialing will have a user verification process. We need to enter the information provided by the telecom carrier into the dialog box. Click Next.

After filling in the necessary information, the router will let you select the IP address type. Most users use the IP address automatically assigned by the telecom operator. Here we choose the first option to complete this configuration.

Note: here we will introduce you to how to use the Configuration Wizard of the Broadband Router to automatically configure. Experienced users can also manually configure the Broadband Router as needed, we recommend that you manually configure the Broadband Router to view the instructions for use of its products in detail.

2. Set PC Internet sharing:

Now, through the above settings, the Broadband Router can provide the NAT translation function for the PC to be shared, but our PC cannot access the Internet at this time, because you still need to set some TCP/IP options on the client machine before you can access the Internet. In fact, you can also enable the DHCP function of the Broadband Router, so that you do not need to set it on the PC to automatically obtain the IP address, default gateway, DNS, and other information. However, because DCHP has a great impact on the performance of the Broadband Router, we recommend that you use this static IP Address Allocation Method to achieve higher performance.

First, just like the machine that Just configured the Broadband Router, right-click the local connection attribute of the network neighbor, open the dialog box, select the TCP/IP option, in the TCP/IP option, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) option". In the displayed dialog box, enter the IP address, default gateway, and DNS options in sequence. In the LAN, our IP address generally uses a private class c ip address. Here we type 192.168.0.x. Here, X should be different for each machine, such as 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3... The subnet mask XP operating system is automatically generated based on the IP address you entered. We recommend that you do not modify it as needed.

Note that Our broadband routers are generally set to 192.168.0.1, so our clients cannot use this IP address, otherwise, all machines cannot share the Internet due to IP address conflicts.

After setting the IP address of the PC, we set the default gateway as the IP address 192.168.0.1 of the Broadband Router. when accessing the internet, our PC will send a connection request to the Broadband Router.

Finally, we set the DNS server. This option varies depending on different regions and line suppliers. Here we enter 202.100.96.68. You can select your own broadband line,. After this setting, the PC in the LAN can share the Internet with the Broadband Router.

Conclusion: through all the above steps, we can use the Broadband Router to share the Internet. The Broadband Router also has many more advanced function options, such as DHCP and security, readers can learn about the specific application methods of these options from the it168 website and configure the options as needed.
