After installing the virtual machine, after installing Linux, there are sometimes problems with pinging the IP of the physical machine and any external network including the IP of the gateway. The network card of the virtual machine is the bridged state. Let me show you next, how to let the virtual machine re-ping the physical machine.
Tools/Materials
- Linux-equipped VMware Workstation 10
- PC Machine
Method/Step
1
First, make sure that the virtual machine NIC is in bridging mode
Click Settings below the virtual machine
Click on the virtual network card to confirm the bridging mode
2
Suspend, or shut down the virtual machine
3
Click Edit options above the virtual machine software
Click Edit Virtual Machine Network
4
Click Restore default Settings
After waiting for the reply to complete
Click OK, as
5
Open the virtual machine again
6
Ping 192.168.1.1 (note here is your own physical machine IP or other host IP on the same network segment)
It's done.
Precautions
- Note To ensure that the virtual machine's network card and the physical machine in the same network segment, can be viewed ifconfig eth0, the subnet mask is also correct
- Note If both VMware and Vitural box are installed, the Vitural box's host only network card is banned, otherwise the two network adapters conflict
