How to use mind map for Reading Notes
The Application of Mind Map is growing. Today we will talk about how to take notes using mind map.
1. Read Books
If it is a theoretical book, in many cases the continuity of the previous and subsequent chapters is not very strong, you can finish finishing the chapter after reading it. If it is a comprehensive book that can be completed in a short time, you can read the book and create a mind map. You can determine the difficulty of the book based on your actual situation.
2. Build a book framework
You can directly enter the directory of the book into the mind map, or select an important part. The main goal is to clearly reflect the most important part of the Framework in the book in the Mind Map.
3. Input excerpt and key content
Enter the key arguments in the book into the mind map and the extracted and outlined parts into the mind map. In this case, you do not have to change the original sentence of the book. Simply enter the arguments. There are two types of content at this time. The first is related to the book framework and demonstration, and put it under the corresponding branch of the graph. The second is irrelevant to the framework, but if you think it is good, you can create a "Miscellaneous" branch in the graph and throw all the content into the branch.
4. Adjust the classification method or Framework Analysis Method
If you are not reading this book to understand the author's ideas or purely related to the author, it is very likely that you do not absolutely care about the author or the thinking framework of this book, however, you may be concerned about some of these parts in the book. For example, in "how to read a book", you are more concerned about how to do analysis and reading, how to do inspection and reading, and how to do theme reading, you may have to do three main branches. Or when you are reading McKinsey's work method, at least I am more concerned about the work steps of McKinsey people, let's make a thought map related to the work steps -- the focus is not on how the author writes it, but what matters to you! In addition, even if you want to understand the thinking framework of the author or book, the book framework you have previously made based on the directory must be problematic, or it is not the framework you have understood. In this step, you can organize the framework of a book based on your own understanding.
5. Put the content and arguments in the corresponding branch. You have completed the construction of the overall framework, and now it is time to refine it.
6. Refine the logic and language of each branch
Now that the framework already exists and each branch has some content, the logic of each independent branch is unclear. You need to turn the original Chinese words into words you understand, try to simplify it! At the same time, you can clarify the logical relationships of these sentences in the form of branches, and then you will have a clear and hierarchical mind map.
7. Process "Miscellaneous" content
You have not forgotten that there is still a lot of content in miscellaneous. If you handle these sentences and turn them into your words, what the author says is important, but it is never as important as what you understand! At this time, you may find that some content can be put into the preceding framework, and some things are irrelevant to the overall framework of the book or the content you are concerned about.
8. Archive "Miscellaneous" content
You 'd better build your own knowledge management system. I'm using mind maps, for example, managing a special map, and having a miscellaneous map every day. Classify the miscellaneous content into these maps in different categories, so you don't have to worry too much about the architecture and system. You can also create miscellaneous in them, when you want to use it, it's just a process of collecting data. At the same time, it is best to indicate which book and page number this article is from, but I am not too lazy to do it.
9. Review and organize the framework map, or split the entire graph!
This is a very important step! It can be said that all the previous steps are just preparing for this step! You may have read related books and made corresponding mind maps before. That is to say, you already have relevant content in your knowledge management system, the framework of this book is now categorized into existing knowledge management systems. At this time, you will find a lot of difficulties, because the content in this book must be very different from the previous framework, you cannot directly put this framework in!
You can choose to split the current framework or the original framework. In short, let your knowledge in the same aspect become the only system and framework, instead of two! This process is very troublesome, but it is the most rewarding moment, because you are not simply acquiring knowledge and energy from a book, instead, you have reviewed and thought about the relevant types of knowledge. When you see countless related branches, it is very likely that you will be connected with unrelated branches to develop a very novel idea, or because several branches are tied to the same project, let alone find a breakthrough. After completing this step, you can say that you have fully digested and absorbed the content in this book!
10. put it into practice!
Most of the knowledge requires not a very profound reflection and thinking. More importantly, we need to sort out the content we read and integrate it with the original knowledge system, at the same time, it gives us some inspiration and extends some of our own things.
