On the Internet to see an article using Windows XP Bridge function wireless Internet access, the personal view that wireless internet is of course has its unique advantages, but at this stage of the state, the cable network or in the transmission speed, transmission quality and price has a wireless network incomparable advantages, So here to introduce the Network Bridge function to achieve wired Internet, I hope to be able to exchange ideas with you.
Here we use a number of computers to share an ADSL internet as an example, the entire connection process, of course, based on wireless connection, dial-up connection can also be achieved, but here on the specific configuration of wired Internet implementation process to explain.
As shown in Figure 1 is the realization of multiple computers at the same time the network structure of the Internet, this structure and Wingate software, such as the structure of the Internet, but based on the system itself provides the function, so I think all aspects are more practical and convenient than the software implementation.
Figure 1
The requirements for implementation are shown in the structure in Figure 1, in addition to the computer directly connected to the Internet requires two network cards, other computers need a LAN for the network card can be, if there are only two computers, then even the hub can be omitted, as long as the computer and computer connection to use the crossover line on it.
Here the computer connected to the Internet is called a host, the computer connected to the host is called the client. Here take two computers for example, of course, more than one configuration is just a duplicate client. The host is using Windows 2003 Server, which is as good as Windows XP in terms of Network bridge functionality, and the client uses Windows Home XP
host-side configuration
First configure the host side, configure the computer to use ADSL Internet, as shown in Figure 2, is configured with ADSL network status, in the "LAN or High-speed Internet," there are three local-connected icons, of which two is the icon of the network card, there is an installation of ADSL installation.
In Figure 2, select all three local-connected icons in LAN or high-speed Internet, right-click on the selected icon, select "Bridge" on the menu that appears, and the system prompts you to bridge, prompts you to install the WAN Miniport (PPP over Ethernet protocol), and select Continue. When the installation is complete, a "Network Bridge" item appears, and the first "Network Bridge" icon will have a fork, but it will soon be normal and the final status shown in Figure 3.
Figure 2 Figure 3
The next step is to set up a broadband connection, and after we start to add a broadband connection, in the "broadband" will appear in Figure 3 "China netcom 2" icon, because we want to share ADSL connection, right click on the "China Netcom 2" icon, the menu appears in the selection of "Properties", and then in the dialog box appears to select Advanced tab, select the "Protect my computer and network by restricting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet" option in the Internet Connection Firewall option group, selected in Internet Connection Sharing. Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection "one, this item is required because other user connections must be run in order to achieve network Connection Sharing, the icon after setting this item will become" China Netcom "icon appearance, will appear a small hand. The following item "establishes a dial-up connection when a computer on my network attempts to access the Internet", and the system automatically makes a dial-up connection whenever the client makes an Internet request to the computer, regardless of whether the request was made by the user or the computer itself. So be careful with this setting, because when the page is disconnected in the open state, the browser actually communicates to the server as needed, causing the system to automatically dial the connection. The configuration is complete on this host side.
configuration of the client
Open Network Neighborhood, and click Set up home or small office network on the right side of the window that appears. In the wizard, click the Next button in the window to appear in the dialog box, where you can select this computer to connect to the Internet through another computer or residential gateway on my network, and then click Next button, and then just provide the computer name and workgroup name for this computer, the workgroup name for all computers in the network should be consistent, and finally the dialog box shown in Figure 4, where the installation disk of the Network Setup Wizard is provided for those systems that are not Windows XP, is also the advantage of using a wired connection, It can be as backward-compatible as possible.
&NBSP
This configuration is complete, the state of the connection between the computers, any computer needs to be on the Internet to be able to trigger itself, complete the process of connecting to the Internet, and feel like a direct connection to the ADSL device, the same as the complete sense of speed difference. It is very easy to have conceptual or network connectivity errors in the configuration of the network. So that the configuration is not successful, so in the setup process must follow the steps to pay attention to the status of each network equipment, if there is an exception, especially the host side of the exception, can be repaired through the Network Bridge system to solve the problem itself, If the problem remains unresolved, you can also remove the network bridge for reconfiguration.
All of the above steps must be done, especially if the client is consistent with the host-side configuration, without having to configure the IP address for the computer, so that the system can handle the problem on its own, which may be superfluous if assigned to it. These features are available under Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP, and Windows 2000, but the configuration is slightly different, and Windows 98 can be implemented as a client based on an installation disk made under Windows XP.
