How to Use PHP to connect to the MySQL database?

You can use the API functions provided by PHP as follows:

Mysql_connect (servername, username, password );

What are these values after MySQL is installed?

If servername is a local machine, it is localhost.

Username is root

Password is the password set during MySQL installation.
