How to use the Linux spell command

Spell can read strings from the standard input device and display the spelling error words.

Syntax

Spell

Instance

Check whether the file testfile has a spelling error. Enter the following command at the command line prompt:

Spell testfile

If any spelling error occurs in the file, the following information is output:

$ Spell testfile # check the spelling of testfile

Scurity # The following are incorrect words

Tp

LANs

Securty

Practicl

Applcations

Necesary

If the checked file has no spelling errors, no information is provided after the command is run.

Check the string read from the standard input. For example, enter the following command in the command line:

Spell

Press the enter key, enter a string, and press Ctrl + D to exit spell. A misspelled word is displayed on the screen. As follows:

$ Spell # check the spelling of the standard input string

Hell, this is a linx sustem! # Misspelled string

Linx # The following are words with incorrect spelling.
