How to use the TFTP method to repair the firmware of WNDR3700

An incorrect upgrade operation or an upgrade process may cause the image file in flash memory to be corrupted.

The common phenomenon is: the PC through the network cable to connect to the router's LAN port, can not obtain the IP address, or has successfully obtained the IP address, but can not access the router's management interface.

If you are experiencing the above situation, try to repair the firmware by way of TFTP.

Prepare to work: Create new Folder "Tftp-root" in c disk; Click Link http://www.netgear.com.cn/support/router/ Wndr3700.asp, on WNDR3700 's technical support page, downloads the latest version of the firmware (for example, in the English version of WNDR3700, firmware version 1.0.4.55 ), saved under the "Tftp-root" folder.

Repair steps:

1. Power off the equipment;
2. Press and hold the Restore Factory Settings button on the back of the device (red small round hole on the back of the fuselage)
3. Open the power switch of the equipment;
4. Observe the power supply light (hold down the Restore Factory Settings button at this point not to let go) until the power supply light is blinking from orange to green flashing state (indicating that the device has entered the TFTP repair mode);
5. Connect the PC with a network cable to the LAN port of the device, set the PC IP to 192.168.1.X (in this case the IP address is set to 192.168.1.2), the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, and other items may not have to be set. The following figure:



6. Send the firmware image file to the device:

Click the beginning of the lower left corner of the computer to run , enter cmd, determine :



Go to the Upgrade file save path (C:\TFTP-Root folder):



Windows operating system, enter DOS command: Tftp-i 192.168.1.1 put wndr3700-v1.0.4.55.img (Note: command is case-insensitive), carriage return:



Linux system, Input command: tftp-m binary 192.168.1.1-c put wndr3700-v1.0.4.55.img
Where wndr3700-v1.0.4.55.img is the image file of the firmware to be routed, the name of the upgrade file that is downloaded in "Prepare for work." For the example in this article, the upgrade file name is wndr3700-v1.0.4.55.img.

Wait a moment, if the transfer succeeds, the following interface will appear:

7. After the file transfer, wait 80 seconds or so, the device will automatically restart (please be patient, do not manually power off the router). At this point, the TFTP repair is complete. Note: If the recovery process breaks or fails, repeat the steps above to try again.
