How to view computer hardware configuration

For old users who have been using computers for a long time, it is inevitable that they will go to the home of friends or colleagues to help maintain and repair their computers, and sometimes they will buy PCs. At this time, we will certainly bring the hardware detection software. However, no one can always carry these software with him. What should I do if there is no suitable detection software on hand? There's no such thing as this, right? In this way, your master image will be greatly damaged. In fact, we can clearly view the computer hardware configuration without these software. Let's take a look at it.

I. view the hardware configuration during self-check

After the machine assembly is complete, even if the operating system is not installed, the power-on test can be performed. The simple introduction of hardware configuration is hidden in the self-check screen (because the boot screen flashed through, if you want to see clearly, remember to reach out and hold the "PAUSE" key in time ).

1. video card information

The hardware used for self-check is the video card. Therefore, several lines of text displayed in the upper left corner of the screen after the host is started are the "Personal Information" of the video card. In the four lines of text, the first line is "GeForce4 MX440 ......" It indicates that the display core of the video card is GeForce4 MX440, supports the AGP 8X technology, and the second line is "Version ......" Indicates the version of the video card BIOS. We can "squeeze" the performance of the video card by updating the video card BIOS version. Of course, this line of text will change after the update. The third line is "Copyright (C) ......" The copyright information of the manufacturer indicates the copyright life of the chip manufacturer and manufacturer. The fourth line "64.0 mb ram" indicates the video card memory capacity.

2. CPU and hard disk, memory, and optical drive information

After the basic information of the video card is displayed, the second self-check screen displays more hardware information, such information as CPU model, frequency, memory capacity, hard disk, and optical drive will be displayed on this screen. The above two lines of text on the screen indicate the BIOS version of the motherboard and the copyright information of the BIOS manufacturer. Then the text will be clear at a glance, of course, the Motherboard chipset; the following lines indicate the CPU frequency, memory capacity, and speed. Oh, I use this CPU and memory too frequently, so the frequency is not quite regular. The following four lines are "IDE ......" Indicates the device connected to the IDE master-slave interface, including the hard disk model and optical drive model.

3. motherboard Information

A line of information about the motherboard appears at the bottom of the second self-check screen. The previous date displays the BIOS update date of the current motherboard, the following symbol is the code used by the motherboard. Based on the code, we can understand the chipset model and manufacturer of the motherboard. In the past, the Motherboard chipset was marked in the middle of the text at the bottom of the self-check screen of the old motherboard. This board was mentioned above the self-check screen.

After the machine is started, press the "DEL" key to go To the BIOS settings page. In the basic information, you can also see the hardware information of the machine, which is no different from what is displayed on the boot screen.

Ii. View hardware configuration using the Device Manager

After entering the operating system, you can use the Device Manager and DirectX diagnostic tool to view hardware configurations when installing the hardware driver. The following describes how to use the Device Manager to view hardware information. Go to the desktop, right-click the "my computer" icon, select "properties" from the menu that appears, open the "System Properties" window, and click "Hardware-Device Manager ", all hardware devices configured on the machine are displayed in Device Manager. The optical drive, disk controller chip, CPU, disk drive, display, keyboard, sound and video information are arranged in sequence from top to bottom, and the display card is at the bottom. If you want to know the hardware information, just click "+" in front of it to expand the content below it.

In addition to common hardware information, you can use the Device Manager to learn more about the motherboard chip, sound card, and hard disk operating mode. For example, to view the working mode of a hard disk, double-click the corresponding IDE channel to display the Properties window. In the Properties window, you can check the device type and transmission mode of the hard disk. These are not provided by the boot screen.

Note that the Device Manager provided in the operating system before Windows Xp cannot be used to view the CPU operating frequency. Fortunately, we also have DirectX diagnostic tools.

Iii. Use DirectX diagnostic tools to view hardware configurations

The DirectX diagnostic tool can help us test, diagnose, and modify the hardware work. Of course, we can also use it to view the hardware configuration of the machine. Run the "System Information" window and find the diagnostic tool --directx((( (run dxdiag.exe in the system32 directory under Windows directory in the installation disc). In the window, you can conveniently view hardware information.

1. View Basic Information

In the DirectX diagnostic tool window, click the system tab. The current date, computer name, operating system, system manufacturer, BIOS version, CPU processor frequency, and memory capacity are clearly displayed. Note: Although I have used celon MHz to MHz, DirectX does not recognize this account and still displays the original frequency without exceeding the frequency. It seems that there is no AIDA32, and we can also identify * whether the operator sells the super-frequency CPU to us!

2. view the video card information

Click the "display" tab in the "DirectX diagnostic tools" window. Here we can see the general information about the graphics card manufacturer, display chip type, Display memory capacity, graphics card driver version, and monitor.

3. View Audio Information

Audio devices are often ignored, but they do not work if they are missing. Click the "sound" tab to learn more about them! You can also see the device name, manufacturer, driver, and other details in the displayed window. The difference is that we can also click "test DirectSound (T)" in the lower right corner to perform a simple test on the sound card.
