From the Windows XP desktop you'll see a blue horizontal bar running along the bottom of the screen, which is the taskbar.
If you want to change some of the properties of the taskbar, right-click the taskbar and a small blue menu appears as shown below, clicking on the "Properties" option.
The taskbar Properties window will load and make some settings.
At the top of this window is a taskbar preview as it looks now, and when you change them will be reflected in this preview picture so that you can see how the settings look set.
To change the appearance of the taskbar, you can tick or tick the check boxes listed in the taskbar appearance.

You will see an option for "Show Clock" and "Hide inactive icons".
If you want the clock to be visible then check the box next to tick "show clock".
If you want to hide the clock, tick the "Show clock" check box.
When you see a finsihed, click the "OK" button to exit back to the desktop.
