HP Windows Home Server starts shipment

HP MediaSmart Server, which uses the Microsoft Windows Home Server operating system, is about to be delivered soon. Currently, pre-sale is available on websites such as Amazon, Best Buy, Buy.com, Circuit City.com, and CompUSA.com, it is expected to be available directly through retailers by the end of November.

Microsoft published the official version of the Home Server Windows Home Server at the Consumer Electronics exhibition in January this year. The Windows Home Server is designed for users who need to build networks at Home. The system can connect multiple personal computers, game hosts, or other digital devices in the Home to provide centralized file storage management, it also enables access to all devices in the network, as well as automatic real-time backup and comprehensive system recovery.

The initial sales strategy for Windows Home Server is to establish sales with hardware vendors rather than directly sell boxed software.

MediaSmart Server, which will be available this month, will be available in two versions: 599 GB for $749 and USD for 1 TB.

Microsoft announced on Sunday that it is a software and hardware provider that supports Windows Home Server. In the hardware segment, Tranquil T7-HSA Tranquil Harmony Home Server, Velocity Micro NetMagix HomeServer, as well as the SCALEO Home Server 1900 and Medion Home servers that Fujitsu Siemens expects to launch in the European market this year, it is expected that Iomega HomeCenter Server and Lifeware entertainment and automated storage servers will appear next year.

In addition, software supporting the Windows Home Server platform includes Malware detection/removal programs launched by Avira GmbH, Diskeeper disk reorganization tools, Proxure KeepVault Online automated backup and storage tools, and SageTV published by Media Server Media streaming platform and SightSpeed

SightSpeed 6.0 audio and video chat tool, Graffiti CMS of Telligent Systems, and Command Center information security software released by WiLife.

Michael Gartenberg, A JupiterResearch analyst, quoted PCWorld, saying that more than half of American households have two computers, and 25% of American households have more than three computers, the biggest challenge for these types of operating systems and servers is how to convince users that they need a device with such functionality, because most users do not know what they need.
