The following uses the wireless network solution of a small and medium-sized hotel as an example.

Currently, the competition in the hotel industry has shifted from hardware competition to service competition. All hotels have racked their brains to improve their service awareness and level. As a four-or five-star hotel, how to provide new services to customers has become a headache for hotel operators. Over the past two years, with the increase of business guests from around the world, the development of global information technology and the rapid development of wireless networks, and the rapid development of Internet in China, it has become a trend to provide new information services to hotel operators.

This improves the service and management level of modern hotels (Some people call this kind of smart hotels as "Six Star hotels"), and also brings corresponding benefits to hotel operators. It can be said that the network is not only a tool for the hotel to disseminate information, but also an effective means to retain the occupancy rate of regular customers. Due to its mobility, convenience and flexibility, the wireless network is able to show its talents in the hotel. Business guests generally require the hotel to provide the same high-speed Internet access capability as their offices and individual homes. A flexible and scalable network solution can be achieved through a wireless LAN.

Services provided by wireless networks in hotels

The introduction of wireless networks makes it possible for hotels to develop new services. For example, after you check in, a business guest simply needs to install a wireless LAN Nic on his laptop to quickly access Intemet within minutes. The installation of the wireless LAN system allows you to conveniently and flexibly move your office in the hotel, whether in a hotel room, meeting room, restaurant, garden, or swimming pool. Such wireless high-speed access will surely make hotels installed with wireless local area networks a favorite of business meetings and exhibitions.

In general, wireless networks provide new services.

1. Internet access service in the hotel lobby

Business guests often like to work with laptops in the hotel lobby, coffee shop or tea room, or have a small meeting in these places, you will need to process emails or download company documents online. If one or two wireless access points are installed in the hotel lobby, the access point can cover the areas requiring wireless Internet access. When you need to access the Internet, you can rent a wireless network card at the front-end or a waiter in the coffee shop. The rent can be calculated by hour or day, in this way, you can use the high-speed Internet access service as a local network user.

2. Internet access service for guest rooms

This is the most basic function that smart hotels should possess. Currently, all hotels are equipped with high-speed leased lines connected to Intemet for internal use. In some old hotels, because no integrated wiring is available or not all rooms are cabled, especially in the guest's room or meeting room, the guests can only use telephone lines to access the Internet, whether it is the speed of the Internet or the cost of Internet calls, it is difficult to bear, and the loss caused by re-wiring, such as the check-in time, construction period and noise, makes the hotel worry a lot about wiring.

If one or two wireless access point devices are installed on the floor where you want to access the service, you can use the wireless network card provided by the hotel to access the service, after inserting your laptop, you can easily access the internet. The above are two basic items. The introduction of wireless networks can also bring many new services to the hotel.

Introduction

The example described here has nearly 200 unlimited nodes and belongs to Small and Medium-sized hotels. Now we assume that these 200 wireless nodes are distributed on 10 floors. The first thing to note is that the hotel wireless network deployment is quite different from the multimedia classrooms of general enterprises or schools. It is mainly reflected in the fact that each room in a hotel generally has only one or two user nodes, and there are many wall intervals between infinite nodes on the same floor, resulting in severe signal attenuation, therefore, even if there are only about 20 users on the first floor, you cannot arrange only one AP bridge. Instead, you must adopt multi-point distribution based on the hotel floor structure, about 6 APs are usually arranged in the consent floor on the ceiling of the aisle. The number and position of the APs are determined based on the floor structure and area size ).

In this example, there are 10 floors, more than 60 APs are required, and it is recommended that all network devices adopt the IEEE 802.11a or 802.11g standard, they can provide high connection performance of 54Mbps, but it is best to adopt the IEEE802.11g solution with relatively low price and better compatibility. Of course, you must also note that the Ap on each floor must be configured on a non-overlapping working channel to avoid conflict.

In addition, the goal of customers surfing the Internet in a hotel is not the mutual access between customer nodes. Instead, they want to share the hotel's high-speed Internet connection, work on the Internet, or use relevant Internet applications, therefore, routers and firewalls need to be configured in the hotel's network. Generally, they are software firewalls. Of course, broadband access is certainly indispensable. 3 floors are shown in the figure 8-50 ). There are 6 IEEE 802.11a or 802.11g standard AP bridges on each floor, and the AP bridge is placed on the aisle ceiling. Generally, a main aisle requires two or more wireless access points, the antenna of the AP bridge must be down, so do not be blocked by the ceiling or other objects ).

The customers in the hotel only need their own laptop to connect to the wireless network card. Through a simple network connection, the laptop in the Internet picture can be shared with the customer's own laptop, instead of requiring the hotel to have a laptop in each room ). Note that each AP basically covers the same area to ensure high-performance connections for all users.

The structure shown in the figure shows that this scheme is much simpler than the wired network scheme in terms of wiring. Only a few of the Black networks need to be wired, and the work of cabling is much less required, the difficulty is also minimal. Wireless connection is adopted for areas with high cabling difficulty in each room on each floor, which greatly reduces the difficulty of network wiring.
