To the users of the illustrator software for detailed analysis to share a beautiful Christmas wreath of the tutorial.
1. Make a brush with a fir twig
First, let's think about what the FIR is like. A thin branch is surrounded by many slender needle-shaped fir leaves that look soft and hairy. In order not to let everyone draw leaves to draw blood, let's create a brush with a fir leaf.
Using the Ellipse tool (L), draw a flattened oval and fill it with dark green. Then click the anchor point at the top of the ellipse and use the Convert Anchor Point tool (SHIFT-C) to drag it slightly, turning the top into a sharp corner. Copy this shape two times so that each copy is lighter in color.
Drag each needle-like leaf onto the brush panel to create 3 art brushes. In addition to orientation, I use default values for all other settings. Depending on your own habits, you can set the direction to stroke from top to bottom or from bottom to top.
Start drawing needles with the deepest color brush you create. On both sides of the needle should be drawn in different directions, the middle also need to add some. Then draw the second layer on top with a lighter brush. Finally, with the most shallow brush, this completes the drawing of the needles.
Use the Pencil tool (N) to draw a random brown thin branch. Not too straight, too smooth. Let it appear to be curved and knotted. After the drawing is finished, place it "at the bottom" (shift-control-[) and place it under the leaves.
Now, make a brush with the branch you just finished. Select all parts of the trunk, execute object > expand, and then drag the FIR sticks to the brush panel and create an "art brush." Also set the brush direction according to your preferences, and leave the other options as default values.
Create 2 more of the same brushes. A slight change in color will make the Garland more stereoscopic.
2. Use a good brush around the wreath
Draw a sketch of a garland--of course, if you have a grasp of the outline in your mind, you can do it--and then start filling it with your new brush--the twigs. The ring is added from the center to the outer side, but not too thick. Keep a certain gap, because we have to use other tree brush to fill it.
Add more branches and place the most superficial color on the top of the Garland.
The basic garland is the case, and below we add some traditional holiday decorations to beautify it.
Draw a five-star with a "stellar tool". Press the "control" key to change the sharpness of the five corners to make it look more rounded. Fill it with a linear gradient with an orange top yellow bottom.
Perform the object > Road Strength > Offset path and set the displacement to 2px. Fill the rim with orange and then paint a brown edge over the star to make it more prominent.
Now, we need to add a few faces to the star to make it more solid. Let's cut it open! Use the line segment tool (), draw a line from each corner of the star, and let the Line divide the stars in half. Select the Stars and all the lines and click "Split" in the Pathfinder panel.
Now you can separate the color for each part. or the yellow-orange linear gradient, but change the direction of the gradient.
Copy the triangle part of the star two times, and move a little bit above the top layer. Select two shapes and click the "Minus Top" in the Pathfinder panel to cut off the unwanted portions. Get the following shape.
Using the Delete Anchor Point tool (-), remove one of the top anchor points so that a sharp "beam" is formed.
The other parts also repeat this operation and make sure that all the beams overlap each other in the middle. Select all the beams and change the radial gradient of the fill color to yellow to light beige.
Now, let's draw some random shapes on the corner of five stars and add some reflective effects. Trim the edges through the path panel. Then fill it with a linear gradient yellow to black and change the "blending mode" to "Color filter". Add several such shapes in the same vein.
Add a high light: at the top of the five-star painting an oval, click on the "intersection" in the "path panel" to crop, and "blending mode" to "Color filter."
Finally, draw a circle in the middle of five stars, fill it with a radial gradient with a center light yellow edge black, and set the "blending mode" to "filter" to create a glowing center.
Combine all the parts of five stars, copy multiple copies, and place them on a wreath. Move some of the leaves under the stars and cover some parts of the star with foliage. Finally, select everything on the screen to perform the object > extension.
Use the Pen tool (P) to draw a part of the bow and fill it with red wine, as shown below. Add a ring to it, fill it with a linear gradient, and make the left part slightly darker.
Also apply a linear gradient to the main bow shape to make it brighter and add a few pleats to its right.
Draw one of the following shapes on the butterfly clip and set the "blending mode" to "filter" to create a high gloss, as we have just painted the stars.
Now to draw the middle knot. You just draw a simple shape and add the high light to make it look more realistic.
Combine all parts of the bow (except for the middle knot) and use the Mirror tool (O) to make a mirrored copy. Our bows are done! Of course we also need a pair of curly satin to bring the decorations to it.
To make the ribbon easy and quick, we will use a default AI brush to modify it slightly. Find "artistic effect-calligraphy" in the "Brush Library menu" and choose a flat brush with a tilt. Double-click the selected brush in the brush panel (for example, we use a flat 30 point), and in the pop-up Options window, change the settings as shown in the following illustration:
Now with the Brush tool (B), draw some random streamline strokes and fill them with dark wine red.
Choose your favorite strokes and "extend" it. Perform "copy" and Post "front" (Ctrl-c > Ctrl-f). Fill the upper shape with a bright red color. Select the top shape and use the Eraser tool (SHIFT-E) to carefully erase the dark parts of the ribbon.
Select two shapes and click "Split" in the Pathfinder, which divides our ribbons into separate sections.
To make the ribbon more realistic, we fill the "upper" section with a bright red linear gradient and fill the "bottom" part with a dark gradient.
Make a mirrored copy of the Ribbon and put both ribbons under the bow. Our Garland looks more complete, but not enough, let's add more Christmas details!
5. Draw a lifelike Christmas ornament
The glass ball is one of the most popular Christmas items, so we have to draw some. First, we draw a dark wine red circle (hold down the SHIFT key to draw the Perfect circle). Add a smaller, bright red circle above it and place it on the upper left. Select these two circles to perform object > Mix > Build. Select the default smoothing color in the blending options, so you get an ideal radial gradient effect.
Add some highlights and reflections to make the ball look more translucent and more like glass material. Using a variety of linear gradients, set the "filter" or "overlay" of "blending mode", as we have done before.
Let's add a decorative pattern to the sphere. Here we draw a group of small stars. Select the Star tool, set the number of corners to 4, and use the control key to make the stars thinner and more sharp. Copy the shape and adjust it a little bit, by holding down the SHIFT key and rotating the star 45 degrees. Combine the two stars and turn it into an octagonal star.
Arrange the stars in your own favor, and combine many stars into one pattern. Then, drag your stars to the symbol panel and leave the default setting in the pop-up window.
Now we can decorate the pattern on our ball. It's not as complicated as it looks. Copy the base shape of the glass ball (you can find it in a mixing group), "put it on Top" (shift-control-), use the "Scissors Tool" (C), first click on the anchor at the top, and click on the anchor at the bottom of the second. Remove the left hemisphere, because we only need to use the right hemisphere for subsequent effects.
Select the rest of the hemisphere and perform the effect > 3D > Rotate. In the preview window, you will see that your shape becomes a 3D solid sphere.
Click on the "Texture" button to enter the "texture" option. Next: Select "Symbol" in the Drop-down menu and locate and select the symbol you just created in the list. Adjust the texture until you are satisfied, click OK (OK). Look, the ball pattern is ready. "Extension" creates the sphere, now you can delete unwanted parts and leave the stars.
After the star has expanded, you can give it a shiny gold and then put it on the ball we created before.
Finally, there is a small hat on the top of the ball. Draw an appropriate shape with the pen tool (P) and "copy" and "Paste it in the back". Fill the first shape with a linear gradient of gold texture, and the second with a brown metal textured gradient.
On the first shape, draw two ellipses, a high light, so that the "hat" more layered sense. Now, it looks more like a column.
Add a circle to the top and some high light.
Finally, combine the parts of the hat together, copy it, and create a horizontal mirror shape with the mirror tool (O). Fills the mirrored shape with a linear gradient from white to red and sets the overlay blending mode.
Add some decorative balls to the wreath. It's more colorful now, isn't it!
To make the picture more vivid and shiny, let's do some soft glow. Draw a circle and fill it with the edge black, the middle yellowish radial gradient. Change blending mode to color filter. Put the halo in the contrasting background and you can see it more clearly.
Place some of the halo we do well into the garland.
Add some small halos and resize each flare.
Now, we need to add a background. Use the Rectangle tool (M) to draw a rectangle and fill it with a radial gradient in the middle light yellow, marginal light brown, creating a golden face.
Add a circle of different sizes on the background so that some of them overlap each other. With a very shallow yellow fill, switch "superposition" of "mixed mode" to achieve a soft virtual effect.
If you do it in the end, congratulations! Our wreaths look shiny and lifelike. Hope this tutorial is helpful to you!
Finally, I wish you all a happy double dan! Merry Christmas and Happy New year!
