Implementing remote Access Services in Windows 2000

With the rapid development of the Internet and the increase of people's demand for mobile office, more and more people want to have remote access to the intranet within the company, and the remote access technology comes into being. Let's discuss how to implement the remote Access Service in a Windows 2000 network (remote Access Service-ras).

The remote Access service is a standard C/s mode (client/server) service, divided into remote access server and remote access client two parts. First in the intranet to find a computer as a remote access server, in the Windows 2000 family products, only Windows Server version can be used as a remote access server. Open the Routing and Remote Access console on the computer that you want to use as the remote access server, start the Routing and Remote Access service, select Remote Access server in the server class type, and then follow the wizard prompts to configure the computer as a remote access server, as shown in Figure 1-1.

Next you set the Dial-in properties of the user account on the remote access server to allow these users access to the remote access server. Open the User Properties dialog box on the remote access server to set the remote access permission for the user dial-in properties to "Allow access". As shown in Figure 1-2.

Next, set up the remote access client to connect to the remote access server. Create a new connection on the remote access client, and select "dial to private network" in the network connection type, as shown in Figure 1-3.

Click the Next button to select the device to use when dialing, and then appear as shown in Figure 1-4, where you enter the phone number of the remote access server, and then follow the wizard prompts to establish a connection to the remote access server.
