Improves the performance of the metadata database released by MySQL 5.5

The third milestone version of MySQL 5.5 was released. One of the biggest changes to this version is the addition of a performance metadata database. The database name is performance_schema and the storage engine used is PERFORMANCE_SCHEMA, this database records some data related to the database performance. For more information about performance_schema, see Chapter 20 and MySQL Performance Schema.

In addition, the database is not enabled by default. You must specify the -- performance_schema parameter when starting the service.
