In Python, use the has_key () method to find whether the key exists.

If the given key is available in the dictionary, the has_key () method returns true; otherwise, false.
Syntax

The syntax of the has_key () method is as follows:

Dict. has_key (key)

Parameters

  • Key -- this is the key to be searched in the dictionary.

Return Value

This method returns true. If the given key is available in the dictionary, otherwise false is returned.
Example

The following example shows how to use the has_key () method.

#! /Usr/bin/pythondict = {'name': 'zara ', 'age': 7} print "Value: % s" % dict. has_key ('age') print "Value: % s" % dict. has_key ('sex ')

When we run the above program, it will produce the following results:

Value: TrueValue: False
