When using PHP for website development in a team, you must consider how to ensure the consistency of program updates and versions. CVS and SVN can solve this problem as common version controllers for managing open-source programs. ZendStudio, a common PHP development tool, has built-in support for the CVS and SVN version controllers. However, you must set up a SVN server, when using VisualSVNServ for website development using PHP in my team, how to ensure program updates and version consistency must be considered, CVS and SVN can solve this problem as common version controllers for managing open-source programs. Zend Studio, a commonly used PHP development tool, has built-in support for the CVS and SVN version controllers. However, there must be a precondition that a SVN server needs to be set up, I use the visual SVN Server to set up the SVN Server in Windows. So before introducing how to use the Zend Studio8 SVN function, I will introduce in detail the installation and configuration of visual SVN Server and how to use it to prepare for using Zend Studio.

Configuration page after visual SVN Server is installed successfully

Why does visual SVN Server work?

SVN Server has many versions, such as CollabNet. visual SVN is relatively small and easy to use. (Personal opinion)

  Download VisualSVN Server (Download VisualSVN)

Before installing the VisualSVN Server, you need to download the VisualSVN Server, first download the VisualSVN-Server-2.1.7.msi (VisualSVN for Windows ).

  VisualSVN ServerInstallation tutorial

After downloading the visual SVN Server, double-click the installation file of the visual SVN Server and click next to install it. the visual SVN Server is bundled with Apache and some configuration information about the visual SVN Server is involved in the installation steps, I will introduce the configuration in the visual SVN section in detail. after the visual SVN Server is installed, the visual SVN configuration interface is displayed.

  Visual SVN Server configuration tutorial

  1. configure the access address of the VisualSVN Server

The team uses VisualSVN for development. by default, the visual SVN server is accessed through https: //, that isHttps: // Computer Name/svn/

If you want to modify the https access mode or the port information, you can useRight-click the left-side VisualSVN Server (Local) icon and choose Properties.,

You can configure the access method of the VisualSVN Server, such as Server Name, Server Port (default Port 443), and use secure connect (https ://) indicates whether to use https or http for access. You can also bind the VisualSVN Server to several fixed IP addresses as needed to further enhance security.

  2. configure the user/group/of the visual SVN Server and set the corresponding permissions.

When accessing and using the visual SVN Server in IE mode, you need to enter the corresponding user name and password to ensure development Security. in a PHP development team, each person has different roles, some of which are administrators, some developers and some testers need to set different user groups and assign permissions.

Create a user group,Right-click VisualSVN Server Users option-> New-> UserThe user creation window appears,

Use Visualsvn Server to create a new user

Note:: The username and password are case sensitive.

Create a user group,Right-click the Groups option-> New-> GroupThe interface is similar to creating a user using the visual SVN Server, but the user interface in the Add user group is added.

Configure user permissions. with visual SVN Server, you can assign different permissions to different users for different project libraries or configure all projects. for example, if you configure user permissions for all projectsRight-click Repositories on the left-> all tasks-> Mange Security,

Use Visualsvn Server to configure user permissions

The default permission is read/write, which can be configured for both user groups and individual users.

Visual SVN usage tips: The configuration of user authentication for visual SVN Server is mainly in two forms: one is to use visual SVN to create a user group/user name, another is that visual SVN uses the user group/user name set in the current Windows system. from the security perspective, it is recommended that you use visual SVN to create a user group. You can useRight-click the VisualSVN Server icon on the left and choose Properties> Authentication..

  3. create SVN Repositories (source code library)

Right-click Repositories-> New-> repositoryEnter the repository name. the Repositories directory you set when installing the visual SVN Server creates a directory with the same name as the repository name. This step is critical and will be used when Zend Studio uses SVN.

Now, the work of setting up the VisualSVN Server on Windows is basically completed, and the installation and configuration of VisualSVN is very convenient, which lays a solid foundation for Zend Studio to use SVN, in fact, visual SVN also provides command line usage. we will introduce it in detail next time.
