What is BFO?

BFO, boot.fedoraproject.org, is a method that can guide the host and install or run other media over the network. It works like a pxeboot environment. For details, refer to official instructions.

How to Use BFO?

BFO provides files that can be used for DVD/CD, U disk, floppy disk, and lkrn images respectively. The file size is very small, so the old-fashioned U disk with small capacity can be competent. Click here to download various media boot files.

Take the U disk version as an example. After downloading the corresponding U disk version image (bfo. usb), you can use the DD command to write the image to the U disk.

> Dd if =/pathto/bfo. usb of =/dev/sdb

WherePathtoIs the directory where the bfo. usb file is downloaded. /Dev/sdb is the name of the U disk device you want to use. After writing it, you can use it to install Fedora.

Install Fedora through BFO

Prerequisites: Computers can connect to a stable Internet. Computers can boot from U disks, CDs, floppy disks, and set the boot sequence to priority for these devices.

Take the U disk as an example:

Here, you can change the preset kernel, kernel image, and source address to another address you need. For example, you can change it to a faster source address. You can also add the kickstart file path for automatic installation.

As mentioned above, if you only see a black screenBoot:Prompt, you only need to enter the content after the prompt and then press Enter. In this case, it is best to be patient and be careful, because the input is incorrect, you need to completely re-input. You may say, who will remember such a long string of things! In fact, this is not complicated. It's just three URLs. The first is the location of vmlinuz, the second is the location of initrd. img, and the second is the location of repo. These three URLs generally point to one source, so they are not very complex. Of course, black screen boot: the probability of a prompt is not high.
