After reading a lot of information, you may start to install the system and overcome the "difficulties". After the installation is successful, you may find that, if GCC is not installed, none of the man commonly used commands can be found. my God, how can I get from such an absolutely pure bare metal? Therefore, based on practice and dedication, the author sums up one of the most classic FreeBSD installation methods in history. Ghost has installed a clean bare metal, it can also become a complete development or production environment. it has been a long time since we had this plan. We had a good opportunity to do so. okay, let's go back to the story:

1. Set the computer to boot from the optical drive, and place the FreeBSD installation disk into the optical drive. After the machine is started, a string of text is displayed on the display, as shown in the following figure:

2. Enter the system hardware detection screen, which may be output as follows depending on the machine:

8. Disk Partition Editor

You can press[A]Automatic partitioning, and then[Q]After partitioning is completed, the following prompt is displayed: Try to manually partition. The VaR of the default BSD partition is small, and it is easy to fill it up. In addition, if the machine memory is large enough, swap partitions do not need to be divided into 1.5 times of memory, but can be adjusted slightly. the specific manual calculation of partition size is not covered in this article. For details, see the official manual.

9.Select Software PackagePlease note that this is the most classic. Do not miss it!

10.Select the installation media

18. Ask ifSet the gateway for the machine

Confirmation page:

If the network is connected, it is recommended to set it as the best policy to prevent the system from failing to synchronize time when updating the system. So, switch[Yes]Press[Space]Or[Enter].

29.Add users and groups

We recommend that you add the first user to the wheel group so that the user can remotely SSH to the host and su it to the root user. In addition, set shell to CSH. Otherwise, the tab auto-completion function is unavailable.
Bsd8 has been improved. There are two password input boxes.

30.Set password for root

31. Go back to the initial installation menu and complete the installation.
