The gOS operating system should now be known as not the official google OS, but since it has a g, it must have nothing to do with google. The full name greenOS is basically a linux release version of Ubuntu, A variety of web applications including Google Docs, Google Maps, YouTube, Gmail, Skype, Facebook, and Wikipedia are built in, and the interface is quite fresh.
If you are currently using Ubuntu8.04, you do not need to use the "new installation" method. you can install it online by following the following steps, when you restart Ubuntu, select gOS in the login window to enter the new interface.
1. Modify the local source. list to add the gos official source. Run the following command on the Ubuntu8.04 terminal:
$ Sudo gedit/etc/apt/sources. list
Add the following lines at the end of the file:
# Adding gOS repositories
Deb http://packages.thinkgos.com/gos/ painful main
The deb-src http://packages.thinkgos.com/gos/ painful main
2. Obtain the public key and use the signature
# Wget http://www.thinkgos.com/files/gos_repo_key.asc
# Sudo apt-key add gos_repo_key.asc
3. Update the local cache of source. list.
$ Sudo apt-get update
4. obtain and install gOS online
$ Sudo apt-get install greenos-desktop
After Ubuntu is restarted, press F10 In the login window to select the Desktop Management System to be entered, and select enlightenment to enter gOS. By default, my system is gnome, so you need to change it manually.
It should be noted that the speed of connecting to this site from China is quite slow, and the speed on my computer is only a few KBps. It took nearly two hours to download dozens of megabytes of data. In addition, gOS uses the enlightenment (e17) Desktop Management system instead of gnome and KDE. We recommend that you first install enlishtenment on the system from a Chinese source, in this way, you only need to download about 11 MB of data during installation.
